Radiation protection in clinical research

Anyone wishing to use radioactive substances or ionizing radiation, including X-rays, on humans for research purposes requires a permit from the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS).

One of ClinTriCare’ Senior Project Leaders took the opportunity to get first-hand information during a BfS training event on the “Approval Procedure for Medical Research” on 08 October 2015 at the BfS site in Oberschleißheim.

Staff members of the BfS “Radiation Protection and Health” division gave an overview of the approval procedure in general and explained the medical-scientific requirements for the simplified and the extensive procedure.

The many practical tips on how to fill out the documents for the application for approval will be an efficiency gain when ClinTriCare submits applications in the future.
